Q-TAPE

PO Box 662, Culver City, California.

Q-tape used this clever generic box, the cutout allowed the label on the reel to identify the contents.

Q-tape, 15 minute stereo tape programs from the 1950's, priced at $4.95 except the Demo was $2.95. Performers included the original 101 Strings. Most of this line up was absorbed in the Bel Canto 2-track catalog.

FYI the 101 strings consisted of 30 first violins, 26 second violins, 20 violas, 18 cellos, and 7 string basses. Q-tape originated the cover photo of the orchestra seated on the stage which became the hallmark of the 101 Strings. These boxes were also generic, with the name of the album overprinted in the center of the photo.
