This station is a satellite operation of KRCR in Redding, but it does offer local advertising for the Eureka market. It is on Cox Cable channel 7, which is the position that many major markets use for ABC stations. It can also be seen relayed on LPTV K20CN in Fortuna/Rio Dell.
Former KAEF newswoman Shannon Garcia announces the end of local newscasts during a live report for KIEM news. It seems that the "Simpsons" on Fox KBVU regularly outscored their 5:30 pm newscast leading to its cancellation. Another former KAEF newswoman Leslie Lollich reported briefly for KVIQ before returning to be the KAEF Public Service Director.
